Description

The application opens FLV (Flash Video) files and allows users to extract video, audio or timestamp information from them.

FLV Extract can currently extract MP3 audio stream and video encoded in Sorenson h263 (FLV1) format or On2 VP6 / On2 VP6 with Alpha Channel (FLV4).

The video is exported in the classic AVI format, allowing you to edit or view it with any player, if you have the correct video codecs installed on your computer.

FLV Extract was inspired by another application written in C# available on Moitah.net which - at the moment this application was created - did the same thing but had a simpler interface and offered less feedback to the user. The author of the C# (original) version deserves credit for it, without that version I wouldn't have been motivated to port his version to Visual Basic 6 programming language and improve the user interface.

The application was written in the Visual Basic 6 programming language, which means that, on very old operating systems like Windows 95 or Windows 98, you will have to install the Visual Basic 6 runtime from Microsoft, in order to run it. It also means it will not run on other operating system except the ones from the Windows family, unless emulated.

The application is open source, the source code is included in the download file, along with the GPL License text.

As with almost any free application, there is no guarantee it works without messing up your computer. It was tested extensively and found to be safe to use. Also, there is no official help support.

If you are impressed with the application and you wish to donate to support the development of this application, or if you need a customized version or features, contact us at one of the addresses mentioned in the About page for more details.
